Ryan’s Masters Predictions
This weekend is one of if not the greatest weekends in all of golf! It’s time for the Master Tournament, and there is one glaring question this year. Can anyone take out Scottie Scheffler? Let’s get into the weekend and I will share with you who I have winning.
The Masters Tournament is one of those sporting events that even non-golfers watch. It’s just as much about the atmosphere as it is the golf, and this year has a chance to be one of the greatest yet.
Augusta National will be ready come first tee time, that is if the weather holds up. Although the weekend looks great, getting a full round in on Thursday may be a challenge. The Masters is expecting some very heavy storms and winds on Thursday morning/ early afternoon. With that said, I think they will fit all the golf in on time. Augusta National is one of those courses that seems to just soak up water, we will just have to see when the sun comes up and guys hit the first tee.
Now, let’s get to the actual golf of the weekend. To me, there are two major questions coming into this years Masters Tournament. Can anyone stop Scottie Scheffler, and how will the players from LIV fair this year?
Let’s start out with the LIV players in the field. LIV players are allowed in the Masters because it is an “open” Tournament, if they are past winner, qualified or were invited they are able to play. Below is the list of LIV Players in this years Masters and how they got in.
LIV PLAYERS IN THE FIELD AT THE MASTERS :
Bryson DeChambeau, U.S. Open exemption
Sergio Garcia, past champion
Tyrrell Hatton, 2023 Tour Championship qualifier
Dustin Johnson, past champion
Brooks Koepka, PGA Championship exemption
Adrian Meronk, 2023 top 50 OWGR
Phil Mickelson, past champion
Joaquin Niemann, special invitation
Jon Rahm, past champion
Patrick Reed, past champion
Charl Schwartzel, past champion
Cameron Smith, Open Championship exemption
Bubba Watson, past champion
It’s going to be very interesting to see how these players fair. For example, last year they did very well. Brookes and Phil finished tied for 2nd, and Jon Rahm won, although he wasn’t a member of LIV yet. This year is different though, another year removed from playing a lot of golf, for example. Jon Rahm has only played in 5 LIV events this year, he had nearly triple the amount of rounds going into the Masters last season.
Out of all the guys on this list I see two that could turn it on. Brookes Koepka and Jon Rahm. We all know that Brookes likes money and majors, he is the one guy that moving to LIV has actually made sense. So, to finalize my thoughts on the LIV players, look out for Brookes and Rahm, and it will be interesting to see the reactions from fans and other players
Now, let’s talk about the PGA Tour players and who I think can win it from their side. It’s all about about Scheffler and if anyone in the field can beat him. Ever since changing his putter he has figured it out on the greens and continues to fire at pins. I honestly think if his putter is rocking, then he takes it by a couple of strokes. Now, for my offical pick I think Scottie will struggle on the greens and Victor Hovland will win his first major.
The video below will show you how special this place is.
So, let’s enjoy the weekend and take in how beautiful this place really is! Happy Masters weekend everyone!
