Robot dog with flamethrower is real. Let's just get that out of the way - it's called the "Thermonator" and it's either the coolest thing you've ever seen or the end of the world.

You want one? They cost just under $10,000 and are available here.

Now I know what you're thinking...what the hell am I using this for? Other than finally keeping Gary from yelling at me about snow on his side of the driveway.

Robot Dog With Flamethrower is real - So what uses do we have?

According to the website, here's a couple:

  • Wildfire Control and Prevention (prevention?)
  • Agricultural Management
  • Ecological Conservation
  • Snow and Ice Removal (thank you)
  • Entertainment and SFX (uhhhh, yeah)

Nowhere on the site does it say "go full Beavis and Butthead on a Saturday night with a 12 pack of Old Milwaukee light in an open field in the middle of the state where no one dares to go without a permit"...too specific?

I've been scared of robot animals with weapons since 1984

I was in high school and this amazing new movie came out called "Runaway" with Tom Selleck and Gene Simmons (yes, THAT Gene Simmons) as the bad guy. Now to be honest I don't remember too much about it - other than it featured killer robots...more like spiders, but they were definitely killer robots. That was it. Done. Sitting in the theatre shaking my head "nope nope nope" (maybe it's because the movie wasn't that good - but if it had Gene Simmons AND Tom Selleck that can't be the reason, right?)

I could handle the Terminator (because I figured he'd get me and we'd be friends), but there was something super freaky about these damn murder spiders. Remember the last scene? So yeah, a robot dog with flamethrower is real...but as long as we keep the damn spiders away I'll be okay with it.
