But what about Haunted Roads? Do we have those in Michigan…oh hell yeah.
Here are five haunted roads in Michigan that have gained a spooky reputation over the years:
1. Seven Gables Road (Dansville) – This narrow, wooded road in Dansville is infamous for eerie stuff. There are stories of ghostly apparitions, particularly a floating lantern, said to be carried by the ghost of a murdered man. Some claim to hear unexplained noises or even feel a sudden, chilling presence while driving. Here’s one report:
2. Knock-Knock Road (Detroit) – Also known as Strasburg Road, this urban legend involves the ghost of a young girl who knocks on car windows. According to the tale, she was killed in a hit-and-run accident, and now she searches for the driver responsible. This is one that has definitely made the rounds over the years, and people are still going there to listen.
3. Bloody Bride Bridge (Stevens Point) – Had to work hard to find this one…it’s really part of Highway 66, the bridge near Michigan borders Wisconsin has a tragic backstory involving a bride who died on her wedding night in a car accident. Local legend claims her ghost appears at the bridge, sometimes alongside her dead groom. Check this out:
4. Denton Road (Belleville) – Spooky stories from Denton Road include ghost sightings, especially that of a woman said to have been murdered near the area (ever heard of the “Blue Lady”) Witnesses report seeing her ghostly figure wandering the road or hearing the sound of phantom carriages. Is it real or the stuff of pranksters?
5. Morrow Road (Algonac) – This road is tied to one of Michigan’s most well-known ghost stories. Ever heard of the “crybaby bridge”? According to legend, a woman’s child went missing near the road in the late 1800s, and she died searching for him. People claim to see her ghost wandering the area, sometimes appearing as a distressed woman in white, endlessly searching for her lost child (the “crybaby bridge” part of the story)
