Working Man, Geddy Lee turns 65
Gary Lee Weinrib, known professionally as Geddy Lee turns 65 today (July 29). He began his music career when he was just 15 years old, joining his childhood friend’s band – the band that would later become Rush. Although the guys had been playing together since 1968, Rush didn’t release their self-titled debut album until 1974.
The song “Working Man” appeared on that Rush album but was never actually released as a single – probably due to its length. The band felt people could connect with it because it was always a fan favorite. In fact, it was a favorite in the bars they’d play at – and they played it a lot, for many years before it even got recorded.
In honor of Geddy Lee’s birthday, here is the song Rush says “goes way, way back.”
