Switching My Son To A “Big Boy” Bed

I love these kind of Grounds for Divorce. I get to ask questions that my wife and I both are looking for answers about. This one was about the back…

I love these kind of Grounds for Divorce. I get to ask questions that my wife and I both are looking for answers about. This one was about the back and forth my wife and I have been having about the proper bed to switch our son Finnian over to.

So here was how I positioned the question on air:

IS A FULL SIZE BED FINE FOR OUR SON? MY WIFE WANTS TO BUY A NEW BED FOR HIM BUT I SAY WE CAN JUST USE THE GUEST BED FOR FINN WHEN WE TRANSITION HIM TO A BED

I wanted to ask this because we are truly learning as with go with our first child, and want to make sure we are making the right choices for him.

My thought is it saves us money to just move the full bed into his room. I also feel like if I was a little kid and got to sleep in a big bed I would be totally pumped up! Now let's get to what the listeners thought.

Here is the conversation from on-air:

LISTENER COMMENTS:

Get a removable rail to it. My 2 are 12 months apart, now 43 & 42! It worked for us.

Toddler beds are great or a rwin with rails. Make it a product about moving into a "big boy bed". My boy are a little over 2 years apart and it worked pretty good

Toddler bed! Anything else is to big

Those are just a few of the comments, most listeners shared the feelings above. Some think it's a great idea, others think he is too small for a bed that big.

FINAL THOUGHTS:

Alright, I get what people mean about the bed being to big for him. But on the other hand, I feel like it will be fun for him and I also think it's a good idea because then he will have this bed for a long time.

Anyway, we will see what my wife wants to do and go from there.

Hey It’s Ryan, let me start off by saying…YES, I was born and raised in Wixom, Michigan although a lot of listeners like to joke that I am from Arizona. WCSX has always been my radio home, I have been at the station since I was a 23-year-old intern, co-host of Big Jim’s House, married with kids. Family and radio are what I love, but don’t get me started on golf! Like some, I have become obsessed with golf and you can hear all about that on “The Ball Washer Pod” right here on WCSX. One of my other passions is helping out the Vets. Since coming to WCSX I have been apart of raising hundreds of thousands for local vet groups. Other than that, I am a goofy guy, loving life, my family and talking to you on the radio. Ryan writes about golf, family and what happens on “Big Jim’s House.”
