WCSX Rolling Trick or Treat 2020 – Newport MI

This list had to be made up from someone who lives in the number one city, because I am really having trouble believing this one.

I guess I have never really thought of it, but which city in the United States do you think is the best for Trick or Treating in the United States. The answer may leave you puzzled.

According to a study, the city that's the most "trick-or-treater-friendly" is: New York City. Jersey City is second, followed by Boston.

I always take these studies with a grain of sand because they tend to be focused on cities that are just known for being big or energetic. But I am sorry, I've never been to New York City but I can't imagine in a city filled with apartment building that Halloween is the best.

A study looked at the largest 100 American cities, and ranked them on "trick-or-treater friendliness." They considered seven factors, including population density, walk score, crime rate, "perception of safety," and vehicle accidents involving pedestrians.

The funniest part of this list to me is that they actually factored in how many people get hit by cars during Halloween. Maybe New York wins there because most walk. But you can't tell me that New York is the safest place for kids to Trick or Treat.

The city that's the MOST trick-or-treater-friendly is: New York City.

Jersey City, New Jersey is second, followed by Boston . . . Gilbert, Arizona . . . Hialeah, Florida . . . Santa Ana, California . . . Newark, New Jersey . . . Laredo, Texas . . . Irvine, California . . . and Philadelphia.

Out of the 100 cities they looked at, the WORST city for trick-or-treating is Birmingham, Alabama. Memphis is second-worst, followed by St. Louis . . . Baton Rouge, Louisiana . . . and Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Where did our wonderful city of Detroit rank. A very disappointing 91 out of 100. So basically they are telling you not to Trick or Treat in the city of Detroit. If I am being honest, I think a lot of that has to do with how spread out and large the city of Detroit is. New York for example is so packed in with people that it scores high on that side of the chart. But come one, no chance they are number one.

What is the worst thing you ever got for Halloween, here is a good list

Hey It’s Ryan, let me start off by saying…YES, I was born and raised in Wixom, Michigan although a lot of listeners like to joke that I am from Arizona. WCSX has always been my radio home, I have been at the station since I was a 23-year-old intern, co-host of Big Jim’s House, married with kids. Family and radio are what I love, but don’t get me started on golf! Like some, I have become obsessed with golf and you can hear all about that on “The Ball Washer Pod” right here on WCSX. One of my other passions is helping out the Vets. Since coming to WCSX I have been apart of raising hundreds of thousands for local vet groups. Other than that, I am a goofy guy, loving life, my family and talking to you on the radio. Ryan writes about golf, family and what happens on “Big Jim’s House.”
