Unique Baby Names: OK If Your Child Decides to Change?
We are now 100 percent on baby watch. I was curious about this topic and wanted to see what everyone thought. We are giving my new daughter a pretty unusual name for a girl. I want to know if, as a parent, you would be angry if your kid changed their name in the future.
Honestly, I think my daughter will love her name! I think it is very cool and will stand out amongst the crowd. I know. I am sorry, but I cannot tell you the name yet. Once she is born, everyone will see her name!
Here was the question I asked on-air:
GROUNDS FOR DIVORCE 3/14
WE ARE GIVING OUR BABY GIRL A UNIQUE NAME. WOULD YOU BE MAD IF YOUR KID CHANGED THEIR NAME WHEN THEY GOT OLDER?
Before we get to more listener comments, here is the video from today’s conversation:
LISTENER COMMENTS:
Good morning, guys. Me and I agree that this child will love her name
Having the baby on Sunday on St.Patrick’s Day is cool. I love my bday being on St. Patrick’s Day
We named our daughter the typical nickname for Stephanie. We named her Stevie because that’s what we would call her. She was so excited when she turned 16. And had a driver’s license to prove to people that that was her actual legal name
One of my friends changed her name as an adult, but her husband and parents still always called her by her original name, not her new name.
FINAL THOUGHTS:
Those are just a few comments, but did people back up the kids on this one? Honestly, I don’t think I would be upset when it comes down to it. If changing their name will help my child be who they want to be in life, I will be good with it. I really don’t see her changing her name, or my son, for that matter. I think we have given them great names that they will be proud of.
