Who makes the Mt. Rushmore of delightfully “dumb” sitcom characters?
Who makes the Mt. Rushmore of delightfully “dumb” sitcom characters? This conversation is inspired by my new favorite twitter follow @RushmoreLists
Who makes the Mt Rushmore of delightfully “dumb” sitcom characters. We’re going with:
— RushmoreLists (@RushmoreLists) March 15, 2024
Rose Nylund- The Golden Girls
Joey Tribbiani- Friends
Kevin Malone- The Office
Chrissy Snow- Three’s Company
There are a lot more that we left off. Who else belongs? pic.twitter.com/2UKxz9r2fn
They asked the question and here’s their initial four:
- Rose Nylund from “The Golden Girls”: Betty White had so many iconic TV characters, but was there anyone as sweet (and dumb) as Rose?
- Joey Tribbiani from “Friends”: The point is moo. If you’re a Friends fan, you’ll totally get this reference. Or when Joey was trying to learn French. Or just Joey being Joey. Loveable? Yes. Dumb. Absolutely.
- Kevin Malone “The Office”: I had to think about this one for a bit. But yep, he’s deserving of being on the list. Beyond the chili episode (which is magical), Kevin always seemed to be a step behind didn’t he?
- Chrissy Snow from “Three’s Company”: Suzanne Somers made that character work. We all knew she was dumb (I prefer naive small town girl who just needed to meet a guy my age who may or may not have had a crazy crush on her).
Okay, so we’re off and running…but ho makes the Mt. Rushmore of delightfully “dumb” sitcom characters? (in your opinion?)
I’ve got a couple to narrow it down:
- Major Frank Burns “Mash”: I’m not sure he falls under the “loveable” category. Dumb? Absolutely. What a great character to act as the straight man for Hawkeye and Trapper and BJ Honeycutt. In my humble opinion, one of the best “dumb” characters of all time on the greatest sitcom of all time.
- Lowell Mather from “Wings”: Underrated character on an underrated show. Lowell was the mechanic/handyman at the airport (although as a free agent, he was getting paid by Sandpiper Air and Aeromass…so maybe not as dumb as we thought). Played by Thomas Haden Church, Lowell was the quintessential dumb guy.
- “Gibby” from “ICarly”: Remember Gibby? Always taking off his shirt to get attention (weird flex, but okay). Gibby was fun and dumb…that’s perfect for the list right?
Who’s on YOUR Mt Rushmore?
We could go all day with this list – but YOU have to narrow it down to four of them for a Mt. Rushmore of Dumb Sitcom characters. Love to see your list: email us: [email protected]
