‘One Love’ Director Shares: The Must-Hear Bob Marley Song for New Fans

During our conversation with Reinaldo Marcus Green (director of Bob Marley - One Love), he shared his thoughts on finding the right person to play Bob...and we talked about the ONE song you'd play for someone who's never heard his music.

(RMG) Finding  our  Bob  Marley  was  the biggest  piece  of  our  puzzle.  Took  us  over  a  year  to  find  Kingsley. Finally,  once  his  tape  arrived,  we  knew  we  had  a  chance.  We  had  a  fighting  chance  that  we  found  someone  that  could  embody  the  spirit  of  Bob  Marley.  And  that's  what  we  were  looking  for. You're  never  gonna  find  Bob.  He's  one  of  one.  But  you're  looking  for  someone  that  had  enough  attributes  that  can...carry  his  spirit,  carry  his  legacy  and  Kingsley  did  it  brilliantly.

(Jim O’Brien)   So  somebody  comes  up  to  you  and  they've  never  heard  Bob  Marley.  They  know  who  he  is,  but  they've  never  heard  a  Bob  Marley  song. What's  the  one  song  you  have  them  listen  to? 

(RMG) Man.  Man.  I  mean,  I  always  go  with  my  favorite  song,  which  is  Redemption.  song,  but  you  know,  there's  so  many  songs  that  are  so  important  to  the  legacy  of  Bob  and  yeah,  but  redemption  song  has  it  has  has  quite  an  impact  for  me  and  it's  a  slower  jam  of  his  but  it's  an  emotional  one. I  mean,  I  think  it  bears  a  lot  of  weight  and  something  that  I  think,  you  know,  I  don't  know,  shine  shines  a  little  bit  of  light  on  to  who  Bob  is  and  what  he  sang  for.

Out today (Tuesday) on Digital, One Love is more than just a tribute film. It's a great reminder (and lesson) in the power of Bob Marley's music. The entire movie resonated with a sincere vibe that will make you admire/respect the magic that was Bob Marley.
