Cicada Shots For Everyone!
It is the summer of Cicada around the country and especially here in Michigan. The problem this time around is we will be hit by 2 different kinds of Cicadas….

A plastic bag full of crawling periodical cicada nymphs that TJ Mathews has collected from neighbors’ yards on May 18, 2021 in Takoma Park, Maryland. Mathews is collecting hundreds of the insects — members of the Magicicadas periodical cicada Brood X — which he will roast, grind and turn into a protein-rich powder he mixes into smoothies. The cicadas are beginning to emerge in the eastern United States and some Midwestern states after living underground and feeding off of tree roots for 17 years.

Two broods, the 17-year "Northern Illinois Brood" (Brood XIII) and the 13-year "Great Southern Brood" (Brood XIX), are emerging during the same year for the first time in 221 years.
CICADA SHOTS FOR EVERYONE!
I see these bugs coming back two different ways. One, you can get upset about it and try to avoid them, or two, you can pull up a chair to the bar and have yourself a Cicada shot! Yes, you heard me right. Apparently Cicada shots are all the rage this summer and people are seeming to enjoy it.

WHO'S IDEA WHAT THIS??
So from the looks of it, this is happening at the tailgate for the Chicago White Sox. People seem happy and very into taking a shot with a Cicada in it. My feelings on this is, no way in hell! I am good, I had my days of trying liquors with bugs in them.
Back in the day you use to try the tequila with a worm or absinth, but now I am good. I will stick to my normal mixed drinks.
Our very own Doni dove into this Cicada hype this year and wrote a great article on their return, find that BY CLICKING HERE!
