  Engine House #5! Back in 2013, Dearborn’s Fire Department drew Melvindale’s stand alone fire house into their fold. Melvindale’s Fire Department established in 1946 and built this building in 1977.

  This is a picture of the first mechanized fire truck in Downriver. For years it was kept at Engine House #5.

  Jarrod Ormanian has been with Melvindale’s Fire Department for 22 years! He helped us out tremendously with our history lesson.

  Melvindale serves an important role for railroad traffic in Metro Detroit. The Norfolk Southern Railway, The Canadian National Railway, Conrail, CSX railways all have rail yards in Melvindale.
