Brew Detroit’s Taproom Bids Farewell After a Decade of Craft Beer and Community
After a decade of serving craft beer and hosting dozens of events, Brew Detroit will close the doors to its Corktown taproom at the end of January.
The 68,000-square-foot taproom, which opened at 1400 Abbott St. in 2015, will continue to produce and distribute various beers and other beverages, but its last day for bar service is Jan. 31. The taproom’s hours this month are Tuesday through Saturday, 11 a.m.-10 p.m.; Friday, 11 a.m.-11 p.m.; Saturday, noon-11 p.m.; and Sunday, noon-6 p.m.
The contract brewery creates its own craft beer products such as Cerveza Delrey and brews for other beer labels, such as Atwater Brewery and Sammy Hagar’s Red Rocker Brewing Co.
In a statement shared on Facebook, Brew Detroit acknowledged the support it has received over the years. “It is with immense gratitude we thank every small business, nonprofit, artist, and community member we had the privilege to work with to bring great food, amazing events, and joy to our taproom.”
According to a report by the Detroit Free Press, Brew Detroit will hold a release party for the fifth installment of Depth V, a stout aged in bourbon barrels. Details will be posted to the brewery’s social media networks.
Since its opening inside the former Detroit Ball Bearing Co. building a decade ago, Brew Detroit has helped Michigan-based brewers such as Founders Brewing Co. in Grand Rapids and Old Nation Brewing Co. in Williamston with brewing, bottling, and kegging their brewery products for distribution. The brewer’s most famous collaboration was with Kid Rock to brew and distribute Badass American Lager.
In an agreement with Pabst Brewing Co., Brew Detroit brewed and distributed Stoh’s Bohemian-style lager, which brought this Detroit beer label back to bars and liquor store shelves beginning in 2016.
