The 1990s Pizza Hut Garage – Greatness
Who remembers going to Pizza Hut in the 1990s with your family? The video games calling out to you while you waited for the pizza to arrive, red and white checkboard table cloths and curtains – and those cool light fixtures? Maybe getting your own personal pan pizza (we were kings back then). Well one couple in Kentucky decided to turn their garage into a 1990s Pizza Hut...really.
The 1990’s Pizza Hut Garage – we found the owners!
First off, here’s the video that started it all:
Here’s our conversation with one of the owners…and why they did this:
Big Jim: Stephanie Hubbard, and where are you from?
Stephanie: London, Kentucky.
Big Jim: That is amazing, what you’ve done with the garage. That is unreal. So how long did it take you to put this together to have a ’90s Pizza Hut garage?
Stephanie: It’s taken about two years.
Big Jim: Did you work at Pizza Hut? Where did this come from? This is what you wanted to do?
Stephanie: No. What had happened was, we had built a garage just to have a place for us to hang out and play. We had bought a couple of arcades, and we were just sitting there. We pulled them into the garage, and we’re just looking at them. My husband and I just got to talking about how much we loved going to Pizza Hut when we were kids—to play the arcades, the jukebox. And he just looked over at me and said, “You know, what if we made it look like Pizza Hut?” And I was like, let’s do this.
Big Jim: So what was the hardest thing to find? What was the hardest thing to find to complete the collection?
Stephanie: The booth.
Big Jim: Really?
Stephanie: Yes. Let me tell you what, my people are out there. Anytime you would find one, you couldn’t even contact somebody quick enough to get ahold of it.
Big Jim: Really?
Stephanie: Yes. And then, two weeks ago, someone had one listed on Facebook Marketplace for free.
Big Jim: And you—
Stephanie: Got it.
Big Jim: That’s amazing.
Stephanie: And I got it. And honestly, the most sweetest, most beautiful person in the whole world. And that was it.
Big Jim: So has Pizza Hut reached out to you at all about this?
Stephanie: They have on TikTok. It was pretty awesome.
Big Jim: So what’d they say? Do they want to like, come and see it or—?
Stephanie: Well, they’ve not said anything about coming and seeing it yet. I would love for Pizza Hut to come see it. I’d love for us to talk about maybe getting back there.
Big Jim: Oh my God. That’s fantastic. Well, we just wanted to talk to you for a minute. This is so cool. It’s just amazing that you did this. And I feel like I got to go finish all my books so I get my Book It! reward and go get a free personal pan pizza now.
Stephanie: Listen, I already had somebody at work ask if they brought their book, could they have a personal pan? And I said, you bring me your book, I will make sure you get a personal pan.
Big Jim: Oh, this is fantastic. Thank you so much for calling.
Stephanie: Thank you.
Big Jim: You have a great day.
Stephanie: You too. Bye.
